    Balakot is a town in Mansehra District in the North-West Frontier Province of Pakistan. The town was completely destroyed in the massive earthquake on October 8th, 2005. Over 10’000 Pakistanis died in the quake at Balakot. The Pakistani government has announced that the city will be abandoned.
    These paintings contain layers of soil taken directly from the ground zero site in 2005.
